Prior to being able to register your vehicle after it has arrived in Alberta, you must have an OOP (Out of Province Inspection) within 90 days. This is done to guarantee that every vehicle on Albertan roads complies with the strict safety requirements established by the government of Alberta’s transportation division. We are able to perform an OOP on nearly any Make or Model.
You must first obtain an Out Of Province request form from your nearby Alberta registry as the vehicle’s owner. Once you have this, you can contact us whenever you’d like to schedule your inspection. Once the inspection has started, it usually lasts for two hours. Our technicians will thoroughly examine components like the following during this inspection:
- Assess the condition of the windshield and all glass
- Check the systems' diagnostic health (check for any DTCs or fault codes).
- Check of the interior components such as the horn's operation, the HVAC system's controls, the sun visors, the seats and seatbelts, the pedal assemblies, etc.
- We'll check each light to make sure it operates according to OEM specifications
- Assessment of the general body condition, bumpers, the fuel cap, and other exterior inspections.
- Check of the battery, drive belts, fuel system, intake and exhaust manifolds, any fluid leaks, hood latch and prop rod condition, etc.
- Check of all of the steering and suspension parts, including the rack and pinion, control arms, ball joints, shocks, and tie rods
- The tires will be examined to make sure they are over 3/32, the same type and size, and free of abnormal wear or cracking.
- The condition of the brake system is examined for any cracks or leaks, the thickness and condition of the brake drum and rotor, the condition of the brake pads and shoes, and the functionality of the park brake.
- The underside of the vehicle will be examined for signs of corrosion on structural components, body damage, the condition of the drive shaft or axle, drivetrain component mounts, as well as the fuel and exhaust systems.
An estimate of the costs associated with the necessary repairs will be provided to you if it turns out that your vehicle does not adhere to the OOP guidelines. After that, you will have a total of 14 days to finish the work and get it re-inspected. There will be no fee for the re-inspection if it is finished within the allotted time of 14 days. However, if you wait longer than 14 days, you will be required by law to submit a fresh full OOP inspection report.
